River and I went for a walk today after being gone a week at the shot show. There were plenty of geese flying so took my camera and took some far away shots. I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for looking

Yep, I enjoyed them.
Canada Geese look so nice with the reflection off of the snow. Makes me think back to the first goose hunt I was ever on. I was 13 and my brother who is 10 years older then me took me on a trip to hunt near Lake Oahe on the Missouri River. Cold, snow and more geese then I thought existed.

Great shots, Gary.

We have a week of goose season left here. Been thinking of some "camera hunts" after the season goes out.

Yep...camera hunting in a week or two...the best time for plumed birds.

Sweet Gary!

Gary - This group of shots is great and I am struck by the composition.... not only to you have striking shots of flocks of birds, in focus while in flight, but the backgrounds are just as striking. I have been told that getting moving subjects in focus against darker backgrounds, that are rich in color themselves, is a mark of great photography - if some of these go on smugmug, I would like to check the settings and try to learn something !

Hello Sarge
The one that was the toughest to focus was no 3. With all the branches in the background. My settings on that pic were as follow. Manual settins,1/1600, Image stableization OFf, App at 7.1 2x Teleconverter on so shot at 600mm. I hope that helps. I have an idea that will really jump your learning curve. Go online and download for free Panda IEXIF 2 . Then all you have to do on any pics is right click on the pic and it will give you all the camera settings. So you can do that on all my shots or anyone else that doesn't hide the info. Good luck on your homework HeHe.

Gary - That's an incredible little program, it gave me everything but the gap in the spark plugs of your outboard !
