The Alabama state calling competition is today and they started it off with the Junior (under 13) and Intermediate (13-16) division. Thomas (9) really enjoys the competition so we signed him up again this year. This year's event was bigger than last with six kids in the Jr. division and three in the Intermediate. The video below (20 Mb dial-up beware) shows a round of Thomas and announcement of the winners. Take note of the girl in pink. She is a current World Champion. I was impressed with how well all the kids did and the event as a whole. Lots of folks enjoying the beautiful day. By the way, Thomas is dying to spend the $50 check on decoys.

First let me say congrats to Thomas. You sound good, very good. If you were hunting from my boat, why I'd just have to put my call away so as not to scare off the ducks you were bringing back around with those high balls and quacks.

Good job, Thomas.

Thomas, that is AWESOME! You are the man. Very impressive calling. How long til the opener for you guys? Keep up the good work.

Best regards

Appreciate the comments guys. Thanks. Thomas is already working on next year's competition. He's got three more years in the Junior division and wants to keep at it. By the way, Michelle went to the event this year and brought Caroline (4). They both had fun. Teaming the event up with the Super Retriever Series was a great idea. Getting Caroline to sit still for any length of time is a challenge but she was glued to her seat during the Super Fly competition.

That takes a lot of dadgum guts to get up there and blow ones heart out. Way to go Thomas, very well done.
