She certainly would've made a great display artifact.Better to have tried to save it than let it rot. I have a giant space for display of something really large at our place in Wyoming and I've been casually looking for something. It is a big loft/platform up in a high raised ceiling area, I'm looking for some sort of artifact to put up there, maybe not a sneakbox, but before demo, that box certainly would have been a good fit. An old sneakbox with a strap of ducks and a decoy rig would be sweet, but I don't think I want to go there.
I'm probably going to look for a big old canoe, piece of farm equipment (something light) or part of a covered wagon (house is on part of the oregon trail). A mountain lion leaping at a bighorn sheep would be in the mix, but not in the budget.
Not anymore.Jode,
Could you record the lines for future reference?
Thanks,
Rick
The last installation on this post. Now that duck season is over, I'll be starting this winter's project. The restoration of a traditional van sant style sneak box. She Will need a transom replaced, some frame replacements, hull boards replaced and a new epoxy glass job to fix the old delaminated poly resin. I'll update as I progress.
Jode~
Steve, that is a wonderful quote! I don't think I've ever heard that one before.Jode~
I thoroughly enjoyed "You Can't Save Them All". Very thoughtful - with plenty of truth. Very nice essay.
I do not want to take away from the serious tone in which you presented these lyrics:
"We all want to go to heaven, but none of us want to go right now."
...but I was reminded of Woody Allen's "I am not afraid of death. I just don't want to be there when it happens."
All the best,
SJS
Just trying to close the chapter and move on to the next! Thanks, EricJode
I think using the hull as a backdrop to other work is a splendid idea. The boat lives on in another form.
