Another notch on her belt

Dani,

Thanks for sharing your hunt. PRIMO wood ducks!

Interesting to see your comment on ticks. Usually all ours are gone by late August, but when I was down in Florida near you a few weeks back, Scooter was just covered up in tiny ticks that the locals referred to as "seed ticks." This was after the morning that we hunted up all the pheasants that had escaped the European Tower Shoot the previous day and she was working cover for quite a few hours. Seemed to wash off her pretty readily in the shower area that the place we stayed at had right off their gun-room, but really freaked me out when I first saw them all over her face & muzzle.

Thanks guys.

Tim....no kidding on a tired puppy is a good puppy!

Bob....the ticks down here are atrocious. We haven't had a really good cold hard winter in about 5 years where the temps stayed low and cold long enough to put a good dent in their population. For sure, if ticks freak people out then they should not take their dogs hunting down here. I have a spray that I use on Belle that acts as a repellant, in addition to her monthly flea/tick/heartworm stuff. It helps but it doesn't keep them totally off of her.

Gorgeous pheasants! Glad that Scooter had a blast down here!

I've seen woodies do it all over the years. Sometimes they flush away, sometimes they flush towards, and sometimes they circle right back over. Now that Belle has figured out they are game you can expect more fun like this in the future. She'll nose them and gladly play the game. Cool stuff.
