Anybody Here Hunt Peace River in British Columbia?

Say near Dawson Creek or Fort Saint John? I'd love to hear your thoughts on freelancing this part of Canada including the river and surrounding agriculture fields. How easy is it to gain permission to hunt? Is the river itself very productive? Does the area offer public land waterfowling? Are any lakes open to public hunting? Thanks.

Eric,
I don't know anything about this area but it sounds awesome. Wildfowl had a writeup November of 2010 which I've attached but I am unaware of any particulars in the hunting landscape. Are regulations for nonresident less restrictive in BC than Alberta?

As of today there are no lotteries nor reduced days for non-residents hunting waterfowl in this part of BC. I have no idea how long that lasts.

I'm of absolutely no help in your quest, but know it must at least once have been a wonderful region. Two groups of our South Louisiana camp's regulars that hunted it leap to mind at its mention The first was around the time tungsten shot appeared on the market, and a group was shooting teal at crazy ranges with 3 1/2" tungsten in preparation for a Peace River Canada goose trip - which they returned from saying "Should have taken .410s.

The second was a group of Georgia boys who treated one of our guides to a Peace River hunt with them around the time spinners came out. They'd set up for mixed bags in a field when ducks started flying in earnest, and their guide told them to fill their pockets with shells and follow him, whereupon the guide took up a spinner on its pole and began walking around the decoy spread with it held high and his hunters in tow, "like Monty Python and Co. following the Ark of the Covenant".
