This is my 9th year not bear hunting, no one interested in going with me or asking me to tag along. Granted I'm not much help anymore, but I am a great skinner. I'm pretty content to sit in the shop and make decoys, there are never enough hours in the day. It's 70 today, too nice to work, but we only have one car, so I'm homebound 5 days a week.
I do own a boat, but it's power source is Caleb or myself, I suppose the fuel cost are probably the same between your boat and mine. It only cost 6 dozen decoys. That's kind of how I consider cost, the oars alone cost 4 decoys, the fly rod 9 decoys.

I learned a valuable lesson in my 30's when I tore my achilles, there will come a time when you can't do certain things again. At that point I've never run anywhere again. You never know when your last trip up to that special lake happened till you figure out you have no one to go with anymore. My brother and I didn't have our annual back packing trip the last two years, one year was scheduling problems and last year was his cancer. I bought all new gear two years ago and have never got it out. We have a 5th wheel camper that has been a paperweight for 4 years now. You never know when the last time for something was the last time.
Is it a bad thing that I keep making decoys so I can keep making decoys?
