Best Year Ever

"Late season is also dangerous due to colder temps and water temps. Is that a reason to restrict it? Yeah, people die duck hunting. Not sure if there are more deaths later in the year but I am sure that someone has that statistic some where. But, people also die bike riding, four wheeling....hell I am sure someone has died trying to deep fry a frozen turkey but it goes with the territory."
Just got the annual weekend report on deaths during deer opener in MN. Someone, somehow lit themselves on fire, fell out of their tree stand and died due to the impact. So yep, death can happen many ways and at all times and it has nothing to do with the time of the year the hunting occurs. This past weekend it was still in the 50's. Mark W

Yes, but think how many more hunters would light themselves on fire if it was really cold!

On a more serious note, we've already had several accidents during our deer season here, including a human fatality and a hunter who shot someone's pet dog thinking it was a coyote.

It wasn't all that long ago, certainly during my hunting career, that it was common practice to shoot free running dogs during deer season. How things change.

All the wood ducks left my property monday. We had a couple nights with frost but it's
in the 50's again today!!
I'm with you Todd, I still think it's ok to shoot free running dogs on my property but would
be more careful on public property. John
