Tom, sometimes it is more fun than pulling the trigger. Last year I had quite a few times where I set my shotgun down and picked up my camera during duck season.
Dick,those are fantastic shots. I see you had the golden hour for light. Way to go. Enjoyed looking at those blacks. Is it common for them not to have white in their speculum? i noticed the lack of it. Thanks for the thread.

Al - this bunch was a little under exposed due to the low angle of the light. Also a little soft on focus. This 400 really needs the light and I probably should have bumped up a couple of things.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

A black duck that isnt cross bred with mallard doesnt have the white. At least the ones I get around here dont. I have a pair on the wall and they dont have the white line either.
 
Doug, I appreciated that response. When I looked at Dick's picture of the black ducks I guess that is the first thing I noticed---the lack of white in the speculum.
