Camo'n my Broadbill

Been working on some camo for boat. Tired of the fastgrass and raffia falling apart so thought I'd go a different route. Started with one bag of Mojo gillie bundles and 54"x12' camo burlap from walllyworld. The burlap breaks down but it also dries on way home @70mph going down highway and alot cheaper to fix. I did same thing around trees stand and left it up all season and held up great.

First I cut mesh to go around cockpit and zip tied to grass rail.

Then cut Camo Burlap Strips about 3"x18"

Then I zip tied groups of three strips of burlap to mesh. Alternating burlap and syn gillie bundles

Once I got approximatly to where the dodger(@ canvas shop) will be I stopped and mounted Eyestraps to cockpit coaming. Then a length of parachute cord is run
in and out of mesh along inside edge. The cord and mesh is zip tied to eyelets after being pulled tight around coaming.

The syn gillie stuff has a lil shine so I hit it with flat camo paint. Also, I put gillie bundles in dryer and fluff w/no heat to add body to them. Just waiting now for cockpit cover and dodger,ho hum. One more gillie bundle bag and one more burlap pack should finish boat.

Chris, Cannibalized my buddy's Cabelas n.flight blind before he sold frame. Sometimes thrifty pays off. Sorry have no idea where to get retail, maybe jo ann fabrics or s&m shop(haha)? It's gotta be 6yrs old and no rot, that's why there is snags in it some of it from old blind.

I wish Cabelas would sell the mesh backing as a stand alone product. You can get it but only if you buy the blind frame.

I've found some polyester mesh material on e-bay. Maybe, I'll have to give that a try.

Dewayne, uhm... nay I still have to finsh the boat in backround. Thanks for thinking of me though. Haha
Eric, thanks and they are 30" long bundles when pulled tight , loose they very (26") depending on how much fluff they have. I called on a source to pick up some on clearence for $20 a bag waiting to hear back from him.

I use the plastic square mesh at Lowe's and Home Depot. A little larger oenings but works well with the fast ties.

In regards to the mesh material... I went to lowes and bought the pergola/awning fabric. It's my way of being resourceful. In Moses lake wa we don't have very many options. The material is a plastic vinyl that's weaved/knotted. It doesn't look like it will fray much, however the weave is loose enough to fit zip ties easily through. So far my camo paint looks to be adhering well. I must clarify I bought this stuff two weekends ago so I can't speak of it's durability.
