Canvasback and/or Redhead Decoy Pics

I have several pattern books and have drawn up several patterns and none of them suit me. They all are either too narrow or too clunky looking to suit me. Trying to figure out how to get a nice looking decoy that rides right. Anyone mind posting pics of Canvasback and/or Redhead decoys that they have carved?

Here is one I finished up recently, Started with a standard Godin shooting rig pattern, added close to an inch to the width and reduced the height by 1/2" -3/4" to give it a lower profile, moved the head back a bit so I could add some sweep to the breast. Not positive but I think the pattern had an upturned tail so I believe I dropped it to be in the water.

Use whatever pattern you have and modify and switch it up to get the look you want out of your birds.

Here are a couple that I have recently finished. I decided to carve bobtail style bodies for a diver rig. I like the way the ride the water and are very stable. They are about 20% oversized. The can and the greater scaup are high headed dekes. The bodies are hollowed cedar and the heads old growth white pine. I also hollowed the heads a bit. Here is a pair of buffies I recently painted with the same body style.

Thanks everyone! I have been drawing and re-drawing all morning. Finally think I have one that will work for the head pattern I draw up a while back.

George,
I might take you up on the offer of the patterns one day. You just rest and let yourself heal up.

Lee,
Here's a link to some Redheads done by some of our club members for our Flats Rig Auction at the 2006 show.

If you'd like, I also have a pattern for the Redhead I did in that set along with a Can from a previous Flats Rig.

I haven't done Redheads for a year or so. Here are two different styles from way back when. They are both Jansen paint. The sidepockets on this first drake are not carved in. The decoy is round like a bowling ball. The depth is created by the paint...
