Today was the opener here in FL!!!!!!! It was a gorgeous morning and I"m happy to say that everything worked out the way I had hoped. I love it when a plan comes together...still have some tweaking to do to the new rig but I'm happy with how it has worked

Thanks Ed....I've got some ideas in my mind for a bike trailer that can have the trailer taken off the frame so i can use it as a sled to pull my stuff through the marsh...perhaps something like that can be converted....hmmmmmmmmmmm more thoughts......

We use a bike trailer and drag 3 kids stuff around with the little one piled in next to it all. Works great. (Summer Vacation, not hunting)

Nice start to the new season Dani. Keep it up.

Dani,

Nice hunting. When you get that trailer figured out, trade that bike in for a dog and have the dog pull everything to your hunting spot. :>) :>)

I used to hunt a lot of walk-in areas. They can be very productive throughout the season. I've also biked in for spring turkey season but I''l bet you have already thought of that. (Beats getting your road vehicle stuck.)

That is just a fantastic way to open your duck season, Dani. That shot of you and the bike brought me back to 1954 when I was doing the same thing to go duck hunting. Be safe and I sure hope you will have continued success.
Out of curiosity, when (time of the year) do you normally start to see ducks coming into area?

Great start to your season Dani, and great idea. That is the exact mode of transportation I'm using to access a couple of early season goose ponds I discovered (too late to do anything about them this year) next year. I'm working on some lightweight goose decoys specifically for that spot. Much quieter than an ATV too!

I hunt with an older gentleman who used a tricycle for his means of transportation on a WMA where motorized vehicles aren't allowed. In my teens I used to see this guy go whizzing past us on his tricycle loaded with decoys and gear. The walk we made was excruciating long and he'd just pedal right by us. Year later I got to know "Bob" and learned it was him riding the tricycle. If I recall correctly when he was vacationing in Mexico he saw a lot of them being ridden. He bought one and had is shipped back home and for years it was his mode of transportation on the WMA. A perfect solution give the terrain and distances needed to be covered.

Well at least you don't have to worry about your pant legs getting caught in the chain. :) Congrats on a plan working out.

I had an uncle who had a bike set up for fishing. It had rod holders and bags to hold tackle. Sometimes simple and light is the best way to get where you want to be.

Dani girl, rig up that articulating boat trailer for your bike you can haul a sled on it and then carry your stuff across the marsh. Trip.

Bob-

When I have my trailer built, those babies, ora pair like them, will be out there trying to fool some more fulvous. so expect some pictures.

Dani

Trip....whatever the trailer I use will have will very likely have a frame to hold a decoy sled....too much "stuff" I want to bring and keep dry than can be done easily in a tube...it's a great idea....

Al-

We start seeing teal in september. I started seeing the coots ringnecks on the Lowes pond show up about mid October...

Dani

HEHEHE that reminds me of how I got started. I had a ten speed with baskets on the back. (Not too cool for a teenager, but I didn't care), I'd strap my waders, coat, decoys and gear in the baskets, then bungy cord my cased gun between my legs and peddle about four miles to the marsh. Shot my first pair of ducks with that rig.

Thanks for jogging the 'ole memory!

Jon

By the way Dani, that rig will work for turkeys too. Been there still doin' that! Get a rack and mount it on your pop-up. Trip.

I'm telling you Dani, you have all the makings of a successful outdoor show. Now you could even get a sponsership from Trek bikes. Nice to see some one is getting ducks. Here in mid Michigan we're not seeing very many. As to the trailer idea, I wonder if you could rig the frame from a child hauler to accept a decoy sled. Maybe just bungee it in. You should be able to pick up a used one on Craigslist or Ebay. Just a thought.

Dani,
What about one of those toddler trailers that you hook to the back of the bike? You could remove the seating/canopy cover and pmount a JetSled to the frame in a way that does not poke holes in the JetSled. This way it could be removed and still be watertight to allow it to be pulled across shallow water. You also might consider a game cart used to pack out a deer. I used one alot in Missouri for walk in hunts and they are very handy when everything is strapped down. Sounds like a fun project.
