Checking in after a while away

Retirement is a funny thing. Monday might as well be Friday. Time ( and timing) changes. So I haven't been around much for almost 2 years.

BUT I have spent a lot of time chasing walleye on Saginaw Bay, chasing ducks and geese and deer all around Michigan and I generally break 90 on the golf course.

I also started painting fish on any old board I could find too.

Sorry for being away so long but I AM having fun, wishing everybody well

Scott, any time you are having fun like that you sure don't need to apologize. The good news is you found it out! Glad to see you so busy.

Scott, Al and others, all of who know who you are,

We working folks have a name for you fellas,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but this is a family site. ;>) ;>)

And here I thought you were "missing" cause you were refurbing the Worlds Dumbest Duck Boat, (tough when the lid gets loose and you can't burp the live wells I'd bet), and cleaning your judge......

I love my "Everyday is Saturday except when its Sunday" weeks but honestly I haven't worked as hard in my life as I have since I retired.....I'm thinking bout going back to work so I can take a break.....

Welcome back....

Steve

Hi Scott. I'm glad you are enjoying retirement! Truth be told, I am very jealous :). I still have another 10 years or so, but I can't wait!

BTW, Awesome paintings!

Haha...I'm four boats and about 12 handguns further down the road since we last discussed my apparent lack of good judgement...but we live and learn along the way. And just for berating me in public after all of this time, I am NOT going to send you the Swiss Army Egret I found recently while cleaning out the garage...don't beg either...you can't have it now

I get the "busier than when I was working" thing. I don't know how it can be but I am experiencing the same phenomena. When it overwhelms me, I fight back and take a nap

Stingy old fart in your old age are you?....WHO ELSE of the Old Guard welcomed you back with such heart warming rememberances?......

Harrruuummmpppphh.....

You did that...in your Suttonesque manner although I'm not sure I like the "Old Guard" part.

Ok, ok, ok ...as it happens I found not only the SAE MkII in its highly desired and refined state. I also found, under the dust, the Egret Mk I in its early developmental prototype stage. Gotta be worth at least a hundred bucks...to a friend of course...otherwise I'll put it on EBay and wait for the fine decoy collectors to break down the doors of my Paypal account

Hey Scott!!!! Nice to see you checking back in. I was wondering about you the other day....glad to see you pop in and say hello again.

Wish I could say that everyday is Saturday.....aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh well I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through those that do get to say that, while I sit in front of my microscope.

I REALLY like your sturgeon. What other fishes have you done, or have pictures of? Any saltwater species?

Glad to see you stopping by to say hi

Dani

Thanks Dani...good to hear from you!
For geographic reasons, I have sort of a half fast idea to paint all of the Great Lakes species first before I attempt salt water although those are a lot more colorful. That sturgeon was inspired by a recent stay with friends on Otsego Lake, one of the few inland Michigan lakes that have a season. It's very restrictive but it was opening the week after our visit and was all the local talk so I painted this one for their cottage. Honest, up close, it looks good enough to hang.
So here's another old standard around these parts

Scott,

Good to hear what you've been up to. Ain't it grand?
Spent a difficult morning in the studio painting.

Excuse me now, the old-farts band will be here in about 5 minutes for practice .....
