Cold Snap, how low did you go?

34 this morning in Tampa. That’s freaking cold for down here. No snow or ice from this weekends storm though so I’m not complaining.
Forecast is for another blast of cold air this coming weekend, with temperatures down into the teens on the northern Gulf coast.
How are yall faring up north?
Anyone still hunting or is everyone ice fishing??
 
Bummer, hope you can find some open water somewhere.

Ice-capped snow is not good for wildlife, makes food in-accessible for most species. Only benefits voles and mice since predators cant break through!
 
19° this morning in NeNC. Took off work Thursday and Friday to try and finish out the season. I've been out twice this year and killed a few ducks which is way better than last year where I didn't even fire a shot.

Hope it actually snows this weekend, last weekend was just rain.
 
Feels like 1 degree here on Long Island our duck season ended on Sunday but the goose season is still alive and well. Ran a generator with an ice ripper through the snowfall and overnight to keep a small hole open in a retention pond I have permission on and oh boy did they do it dirty! We’re allowed 8 geese per person in this zone, we had our 4 man limit before 1 o’clock.

We bottomed out about 10 below--nothing like record cold. But multiple days with high temps that didn't go over 10 above. And about 18" of light fluffy snow Sunday night into Monday night. I thought I had it all cleaned up by mid-day yesterday, but we had another 6" on top of the 10-12" from round 1 yesterday afternoon and overnight.
 
2 was our low for about 15 minutes this morning (quack fall and rise back up), but we have colder supposedly coming here in CT later in the week. It is rare that we don't get above freezing to get everything cleaned up, but it looks like this week we will be cold.
 
We saw 3-4 degrees in northern NJ I believe at one point. Sunday, cleaning snow in the morning, it was close to unbearable. I believe it was 4-5 degrees at that point. My hands were freezing in a matter of 5 minutes using orange crabber gloves. I had my wife rotating gloves for me off the glove dryer about every 15-20 minutes. Luckily, I had 2 pairs of orange crabber gloves and 2 pairs of normal gloves. Just kept rotating them and I managed to get through. We have about 12-15" of snow on the ground right now.
 
Went down to 12 last sat. morn with a stiff N.W. wind. After storm petered out Monday morning balmy at 28 and a bit of N.W. great hunting weather. Tues. morning just a couple degrees cooler and another great hunting morning. Now this morning back to mid teens and were stuck in those temps with not above freezing all day. Forecast has that staying around for at least a week . Might try a mid day hunt tomorrow or not. Mid teens feel like below zero to me for some reason this year. Inside feels better!
 
Hunted up in VA over the weekend with wind chill reported as 5 degrees. Froze my tail off and I think I can still feel the blind shaking. No fresh birds, so didn’t reduce anything either. Could have used this cold a lot sooner.

Hunted over a frozen pond on Monday, our “warmest” afternoon here in South Jersey this week. I think it was in the low 20s, but very windy. Put a few decoys around the edge of the pond, and that’s all it took. Got my black duck limit and was back in the warmth of my truck in no time. Might have to do it once more this week!

Took advantage of midday high tide change and 26 degrees temp yesterday after another 14 degree morning. With 10 mph N.W. wind and tide movement broke a hole in ice in front of blind and let wind & tide carry ice away. Shot first duck 15 minutes after getting in blind at about 12:15 pm and done by 3:15 pm. Nice warm sun shining in blind all afternoon to keep my lab warm after retrieves. The launch is locked out about 100yrds as of yesterday, expect it is further today. Even breaking ice only buys more frustration with the tide bringing ice back into the decoys as soon as the hole is cleared.
