Thanks Sean, yep I have a basement shop with a stuccoed sandstone foundation. Buffies will eventually be part of an 8 to 10 bird rig comprised mostly of hens, only planning one or two drakes. At the rate I carve it may take a year or two to complete though.

Ah another basement dweller ! Sandstone foundation? I like the pose of the buffies too!

I live in my basement studio too Chris.
Here is my finished Wood duck harvest Pose .
The bird is hollow basswood wings tupelo the wood duck whistle is by Severen & Severen Ltd.

Very very nice Bob

Here's the crow. I made a finish out of linseed oil and black pigment. I might put another coat on, but my wife says leave it like it is. I painted brass tacks for the eyes.

Bob that Wood duck is outstanding! Check your PM's.

Here are a few I have been working on. A couple are repainted working birds.

Finished up these scoters about a week ago. Some of you may have seen them already, but for those that have not...............

The pintails are done before the new year! Both birds have tack eyes, Blair school lines, made from Michigan white cedar, hollowed, and painted in oils. Once the paint cures, the pad weights and leather loops will go on. Now it's time to draw some new patterns and cut some cedar.... This time my New Year's resolution will be to carve a rig of decoys - but what kind???

I met my Quota for for dead Spoon-Duck Hens already this Year, but I expect to have plenty more chances at them, and Bluewinger Hens in the Marsh soon enough. ;)

Good stuff this Month Dudes.

Dave, the pintails look sweet. I really like the blending on the bottom of the hen. Nice and soft. Now to see it they meet with Chuck's approval...

Remind me next time you're by I have a big sheet of lead if you need some for pad weights.

Been working on this decoy stand for the past 2 weeks it's made from Bolivian Rosewood with a Polyacrylic satin finish, it will be home to a fine Jode Hillman decoy. been busy this month and should have some sea ducks to share in the next few days.
