Double Double......Jumpshooting

Hello All. I left work early Sunday afternoon to jumpshoot the marsh again. I hadn't gone 200 yards into the marsh when I jumped a pair of woodies. Using my B-Day gun, I dropped the drake and swung onto the hen, dropping it. That alone was note worthy. Then when I picked up the drake and saw the leg jewelery, I was totally physched! Then came the jewelery on the hen, and I was beyond physched! Lest I anger the duck hunting Gods by appearing to be greedy, I unloaded and walked back to the truck. As long as I've been hunting and these are only the 3rd and 4th bands I've ever taken. I reported the bands online and the drake was 3 years old and the hen was this year's hen. Both birds were banded 4 miles south of where I shot them, which puts them in Colchester Vt. John Bourbon

Well, now you need to ask yourself if you should end your duck season on a winning note? That is fantastic, John. The duck gods were looking at you favorably for sure.

That is amazing. I have heard the expression "Birds of a feather flock together" yet in this case, "Birds with a band, band together" sounds more appropriate.

You shoulda bought a lottery ticket on the way to the Marsh!!

Great hunt, fantastic pic.

Thanks guys for all the kind words. After seeing the question asking if they were banded together, I went back and checked the record, and they were banded in the same place but 2 years apart, almost to the day.

If I didn't already have a very nice drake woody on the wall, I would have to give serious consideration to having these 2 mounted.

I am going to have this picture printed out and framed with the reports stuck in the back and the bands attached to the frame. Then I'll hang it on the wall along with other hunting memorabilia I've got there.

I love this particular marsh. Its got a hard bottom, so walking is pleasant, wide open vistas for scenary, and many memories of past good times there. I've hunted it with Dave Diefenderfer and Cheech Kehoe and a variety of fine labs that have come in and out of my life over the last 20 years. Don't get me wrong, I have been skunked there before, but its one of maybe 3 places I'd hunt just to relive past memories, and not feel bad if I go home empty handed.

I'm sure all you guys have places like that.

John, Amazing job, i wonder what the stats are on that happening again. By the way what O/U is that with double triggers ?
Bill

Hi Bill. Thats a good question. The gun is marked Overwing imported by Universal of Halieah Fla. The gunsmith I had work on it thinks it is a Franchi.
