Hey folks, I usually don't post things like this but I want to make you aware of a real threat (wrapped in a Request for Information). The USFWS is looking for information (for a grand total of 14 days) on drain tile setbacks around prairie potholes protected by easements. These easements were purchased with Duck Stamp and Wetlands Loan Act funds. This is a move to allow drainage to creep closer to those protected potholes. This could lead to dewatering potholes completely or partial dewatering and even seasonal dewatering when broods are still not fledged. I expect that you'll hear more from waterfowl organizations. But I hope you will consider submitting comments opposing drainage closer to protected potholes in the PPR. You can read the RFI here. I hope you will consider filing a comment supporting the potholes that you paid to protect.
