Duck Commander's banning from his own show

I don't have TV, so it wasn't until recently I have watched the program. Susan bought the DVDs and we have watched a few shows. I really like this family. It's a good clean show relative to all the other junk on TV nowadays (and the reason why I don't have TV). This family sets a good example for everyone. I think it's why it is so popular. The GLAAD people probably have about as many people backing them as code pink...they just whine allot. They are the real bigots nowadays, IMO. I read the GQ article. Anyone commenting should read the article first.

I agree with Phil, heck the Pope agrees with Phil, although the Pope may not put things in as crude a context.

And, something I've known for a long time...DC makes the very best Teal call, IMO.

I had a very long winded post ready yesterday AM but lost it when I got kicked off line due to a router problem or maybe NSA was watching? Short answer is I like the show better than 99% of the crap that is on TV today. Anyone who doesn't like the show needs to watch a couple with an open mind. I stayed away from the early DC merchandise because I though wrongly that they were just another "whack & stack" bunch of clowns. Well I watched a few shows out of curiousity and realized that it was NOT a hunting show. I can't watch any of the "hunting shows" that are shameless adds for the latest gadgets, the only one I ever thought was worth watching was Water Dog. Back to DC, the rest of the family is telling A&E to pound sand. I couldn't be happier!!! The selective enforcement of "morality" by the shameless liberal lapdog media makes me want to puke. A&E can do what they like but let the market work, I can't believe many GLBT folks watch Phil & co. anyhow. Finally, we went to a live show that a local church put on with SY and Allan and the crowd was such an amazing mix of young and old Christians you couldn't believe it. I am not a bible pounder but the family values shown on this show are to be admired. Merry Christmas not happy holidays.

i have been a DC fan since VHS... Long before his hunting shows were on the Outdoor Channel - much less A&E. I have meet him several times... first time being in 1999... I have heard him give his testimony in person and its worth listening too. From my take, He is the Phil now as he was then... His sons have taken his company to the front. And I can't bash good business... and I'm in no way jealous of the money they have earned... The man rose from nothing, only when he devoted his life to the Lord... a quailty I admire... I heard some say he does nothing for the sport... well, i beg a differ.... he has caused more kids to want a duck call and/or want to go hunting than any of us ever will... so much so i have complain about the local rivers here being more crowded with duck dynasty wanna-b's... LOL But if that isn't good for the sport, nothing is... hell thats the future of our sport... So with all that said... anyone that knows of or knew Phil Robertson.. knew the answers he'd give to those questions long before they asked them... So there shouldn't have been in shock value when he did... Well i have rambled to long.. i'm not sure i made a point or if I even had one... But i do Like ol'Phil heck i'm on DC vol6..hehe

"While the LGBT community may be offended by his opposing viewpoint, the rash, discriminatory, and unfair treatment toward Mr. Robertson -- a recognized symbol of the faith community -- is a slap in the face to faith driven consumers and everyday Americans alike." Read this somewhwere and I thought it hit the nail on the head

When asked what Phil was doing after the firing, as an elder in his church, he was leading a prayer group for a little girl with terminal cancer. Sounds like a terrible guy to me.

I can promise you Phil's contract with A&E stipulates that when he provides an interview, A&E has to approve the transcript. Very common in situations such as this. A&E had to approve the interview, probably screened the questions, and gave final approval of the end results. If they didn't do this, they gave approval for Phil to speak freely and approval for GQ to freely publish. A&E knew what was coming.

How come anyone who believes that gay relationships are immoral has to stay silent about the constant assault on us regarding this groups lifestyles and demands for equality. How come we can't be offended? I don't care if someone is gay or straight just shut up about it. Why is it news anytime someone comes out of the closet? Ever hear anyone come out, say they are straight and have this be newsworthy?

Shows that openly flaunt what I believe to be wrong I don't watch. I don't ask that they cancel the show or fire anyone. I just don't watch. You don't like what Phil has to say, don't watch and don't support the advertisers.

I never liked the show. I feel it is insulting and simplistic. But if invited I would hunt with those guys anytime. Never owned one of their calls. I am sorry to see him lose his job over some intemperate remarks. I did buy a DC Christmas card for the wife, the first and last Duck commander item I have ever purchased

Just to stir the pot a bit more... I thought I'd read something last summer about this. Here's a bit of the article from Parade. Coincidence?????
Duck Dynasty's esteemed patriarch may soon be ready to hang up his hunting whistle for good. In a new interview with Parade magazine, Duck Commander founder Phil Robertson hints that he'll likely leave the A&E hit reality show in the not-too-distant future.
Asked how much longer he plans to be involved, the bearded, camo-wearing duck hunter replies, "Not long." But that doesn't mean the series will end. "I think it'll go on without me," he muses.

Not much in show business is not part of some plan or another. What a better way to go out than in a storm of publicity?

If possible, PLEASE name ONE other person, in the last 50 years, who has brought more NEW People, young & old - male & female, into our lifestyle of waterfowling, than Mr. Phil Robertson? A life style, and blood sport, steeped in a notorious past. That birthed conservation, over regulation, and so much more. This is not about like and dislike, it's about bottom line.

NO DUCK HUNTERS = NO DUCKS

End of story...

Sour Grapes? No wine here Fritz!! :^)
Mr Phil might be a good and honest man, but he's also a very shrewd business man. The printing company I work for is turning out hundreds for thousands of film wraps that will be molded on 22oz cups for the "Duck Commander" Every cup he sells puts a little more money in my pocket. Like him or hate him, he has one powerful marketing campaign going!!!

Phil has never had many friends among the core membership here.

you mean CLICK not core , don't you.

political correctness is ruining this great country of ours. Phils ok with me.

Nah, I think Tod phrased it right

Not liking Phil does not automatically make one politically correct, nor would everyone liking him fix this country. A&E stands Arts and Entertainment (or it does as much as MTV stands for Music TeleVision), so they need to watch out for their audience. Duck Dynasty may be the show with the highest ratings for the network, but they need to pay bills for the other 167 hours of broadcasting per week. Phil is entitled to his freedom of speech as a citizen, but A&E is entitled to choose who represents their network. Don't like it, stop watching A&E and all affiliated networks.
