Euthanized geese in Alabama HOA community question

Well, I will give it a try. I don't have problems asking for permission to hunt properties nor doing the research to find out who owns the properties and how to get a hold of them.

I don't see lots of geese on the fields but usually a flock of about 20 or so. Not like I would do enough damage to the flock if they came in and I got one or two birds out of the group. Now, if I could hunt the field next to the federal prison (not gonna happen for many reasons), then maybe a dent could be made in the resident population. Part of the reason I haven't asked is that I don't see a lot of geese on the cattle fields so it would more than likely be a one and done kind of thing....plus I didn't really think the cattle farmers would appreciate my presence. Now there is one property that they might appreciate my presence in taking out some pigs. Not sure what cattle farmers thing of pigs in their fields.

It would be a surprise if any farmer objected to hog removal. They make a nasty mess, and i believe they'll kill a calf if given the opportunity.

Seems this is the hardest part for most hunters..... being told no is like the ultimate fear in a lot of bird hunters that ive crossed paths with. I never understood why either. Cant get access without asking, and it leaves you in the same position as not asking permission. Ive been told no many of times, and just a couple weeks later get a call for them to change their mind, as I always leave my name and phone number.

Seems the younger generation struggles most with this as well, as they are so tied to screens and communication through apps, they get nervous shaking a hand and having a conversation in person. Enough destruction from gaggles of geese, and that landowner will think twice about that crazy sucker who wants to layout in the cold around some made up decoys. Whats funny is when they call and ask where you are the week after the season ends. When you explain the season and the rules, they just act so let down that they have to wait til next season to get the same relief again. Thats when you know you got it locked down for good.
I frequent local watering holes a bit (beer is good). If you ever meet a farmer in a bar, your chance of getting access quadruples immediately. I got permission a few weeks back to hunt a new farm. He said he gets geese some times. Hopefully it pans out.

Been the same in several states. Go to a bar, chat with some folks. My success rate doing that vs knocking on doors has been way higher.

OnX App. If you don't wanna pay for the app, send me an address of a property and I can send you the property owners info (if they don't live at the property). Or, lots of county tax assessors offices use GIS tax maps that are available online for free. These offer the same info. Not all municipalities have their records made public through the GIS systems, though.
