Sometimes I've been accused of not contributing anything to this forum, or possibly society, or both. That doesn't really bother me, but Sutton saying my shoes can't match my buff (the neck gaiter we wear for fishing) does, so here's a brief update on where I've been.
I did a lot of duck hunting this year, probably my best #'s year ever, and have a ton of tailgate shots, but I will refrain. I do like this shot, however. It is an old commercial fisherman still doing his thing. It was a cold winter day and he was tied up where I launch my duck boat filling hampers with mullet to bait his crab traps. Most of the younger guys just buy pogies as they are cheap.
That pic appears to have worked, so I will keep going. Apologies if none of these work.
I have twins who turned two in January, and their momma would tell you I have been chomping at the bit to get them into the field. So, when I thought I had a gobbler pinned down the weekend before the season opener I jumped on the chance to let my son hear his first gobble
Sadly, it was both cold and foggy, neither of which is much good for turkey vocalization around here. There was lots of sign however, and I brought his canine brother back the next weekend. Since I believe this forum needs both more tailgate and more boykin spaniel shots.........
after my buddy took down the relatively easy opener bird, we spent lots of time in pretty woods, but never could pin down anything else down here.
Well, I guess that's not completely true. I pinned down a gopher tortoise or two. Very cool animal that is unique to the parts, and somewhat rare due to our propensity to eat anything reptilian. Size 10.5 for those keeping up in the other thread.
In general, the turkeys down here locked me out of success for another year.
