Sometimes I've been accused of not contributing anything to this forum, or possibly society, or both. That doesn't really bother me, but Sutton saying my shoes can't match my buff (the neck gaiter we wear for fishing) does, so here's a brief update on where I've been.
I did a lot of duck hunting this year, probably my best #'s year ever, and have a ton of tailgate shots, but I will refrain. I do like this shot, however. It is an old commercial fisherman still doing his thing. It was a cold winter day and he was tied up where I launch my duck boat filling hampers with mullet to bait his crab traps. Most of the younger guys just buy pogies as they are cheap.

That pic appears to have worked, so I will keep going. Apologies if none of these work.
I have twins who turned two in January, and their momma would tell you I have been chomping at the bit to get them into the field. So, when I thought I had a gobbler pinned down the weekend before the season opener I jumped on the chance to let my son hear his first gobble

Sadly, it was both cold and foggy, neither of which is much good for turkey vocalization around here. There was lots of sign however, and I brought his canine brother back the next weekend. Since I believe this forum needs both more tailgate and more boykin spaniel shots.........

after my buddy took down the relatively easy opener bird, we spent lots of time in pretty woods, but never could pin down anything else down here.

Well, I guess that's not completely true. I pinned down a gopher tortoise or two. Very cool animal that is unique to the parts, and somewhat rare due to our propensity to eat anything reptilian. Size 10.5 for those keeping up in the other thread.

In general, the turkeys down here locked me out of success for another year.

In keeping with the reptile theme for a moment, at some point during that time frame I went by my mom's house and happened to snap this pic of the shell off a turtle my grandpaw ate long ago.

As mentioned previously on the forum, I shot up to Maine for a week and stayed in Troy Fields cabin which I enjoyed immensely. I had to stop by this little cove which my wife and I had visited 6 years before on our honeymoon.

And that pretty much bring us to fishing season down here. LA is in a unique situation of having tons of oil producing platforms off our coast, but only having regulation of our fisheries out to 3 miles (the feds saw the oil production and decided to shorten the borders of state waters a bit). Anyway, we only have a fed days to catch red snapper down here, so I've been trying to make it count. Tuna has been slow, so I haven't been yet.

Note the buff, although I still have no idea, what Jams are, Steve?

And the best one I was able to muster for the short season

The benefit of getting them fresh is that you can grill/cook/eat the entire fish which probably really is the best way

and while I'm still apprehensive to take the kids out on the boat, the MS river is only about 100 yards from the house, so they occasionally get to do a lil fishin

And one last shot just because I like it

It's a tough life you live, hunting, fishing, kids, dogs. Great to see you enjoying it all with you family. Don't be in too much of a hurry to grow those little ones sooner than you think they will be headed off to college and their new life.

Nice!....way to live full throttle.....but are you really too young to remember Jams....? Maybe I am just showing my age.....but I never really liked em anyway.......

So what's the deal with Jams anyway? My wife was yanking my chain about some new bike shorts I bought the other day. She said they look like the old Jams? I wasn't sure if I should be insulted or what. Either way, I like 'em and she doesn't...so there's nothing new there.
Cool pics and write up Kris...Thanks for sharing.
Steve

Nice fish and cute kids.

And jams look like reglar ol board shorts or swim suit shorts to me

What's all this about posing in your jammies? Remember, this is a family-friendly site!

Just for fun, someone ought to google "jammies and rubber boots" and see what comes up. Probably NSFW.
