This is a tough one to pick out... but all hunting pictures are good pictures!
There was a cold front moving through this day which made for some good pictures i thought, the grey weather just makes you think of divers.. of course the day before when it was 65 degrees we killed birds and this day we didnt even see a handful, guess they rode out on the front.
Great thread! I love to see everyone's hunting pictures. Makes me realize there's a lot of places I want to explore.
Its hard to pick one picture, and although we hunted birds quite a bit in MB last fall, most of my pictures seem to be about deer hunting. It was the first time Mac and I had tried bow hunting and we were both stoked.
This helped get the blood pumping too. We borrowed a lot of gear off my buddy who I went to school with back in MB. "Come out to the shed and we'll look for a tree stand." he says. You should have seen Mac's eyes when the door went up and he saw all the candy. Someone has spent way too much time chasing deer me thinks.
We tried to be selective about the birds we shot as we had to eat them all before we left. Grandma laid down the law that no wild meat would be left in her freezer. I had wanted a nice wood duck and got a chance at this guy one morning. I've never shot one this nice.
MIgratory bird season is actually open right now in the zone North of me, but Mac and I are waiting for Sept 1 to hunt some of our old spots. Our goals this year are to have fun, see some new country, visit old spots, and let the dog do all the work.
you people and your trout. i joked one time to one of my bosses (CT's trout and stream biologist) that the comorants at the hatcheries are my favorite birds. I think i gave him a stroke.
