Favorite picture from this season

I, like most of you have finally come to terms with the season being over. I thought one way to keep things fresh in our minds is to share your favorite photo or memory of this past season. I have two. The first is one of the best hunts I've ever had. We shot eight different species, saw some incredibly gorgeous drake pintails and shovelers just out of range and got the first three man limit out of my beat up old boat. The second photo is of the Vermont opener. My girlfriend and her brother came with me that morning and she took this great picture. She then had it blown up and framed for me. It may end up getting turned into a painting some day when I have the time.

The central Indiana zone goes out this weekend so there's a chance I'll get a picture to top my favorite(s) but it's highly unlikely for a number of reasons...

My favorite duck related picture;
With our third child being born on September 2nd, I missed all of dove, teal, and our early split, it seems I've been playing "catch-up" all year. Thankfully, we had time to train... this guy splashed down about 200 yards away from where he was hit.

This is my favorite from this year, and probably for many years to come;
My 5 1/2 year old on his first pheasant hunt.

On the second to last day of deer season my dad called me from his stand, out of breath from excitement, saying he had just shot a big buck, and needed help. I was in a tree 25 miles away, and I knew I could drag in the dark, but its my dad, and I knew getting great pics was worth forfeiting my hunt...plus its my dad, did I mention that? Anyway, I stopped and grabbed my daughter on the way, as she is his pride and joy, and this is one of the pics I took that afternoon.

this is mine - simply because after many years of concentrating on upland birds - I start duck hunting again after way too long

first duck in a long time

Two days prior to my younger brother making it home for Thanksgiving, my drive shaft snapped a few hundred yards from the ramp, and my "big boat" was eliminated as an option for the remainder of the holiday. Because we were limited to our hellbenders, and because the birds had all but left this particular lake, we opted to hunt an isolated pocket back in the treeline for wood ducks for our last hunt of his visit. The wood ducks were uncooperative for the most part, but around 7:30 the shooting on the main lake picked up, and we could see big groups of ringnecks working the lake through the trees. We packed up and paddled out to the main lake as quickly as we could. By 8am, we were set up, and by 8:40 we were done, with birds still working the decoys and landing 10' from us. I killed a lot of solo limits while home, but this was by far my favorite and most memorable hunt of the season.
