Just got back from a trip to Lake of The Woods. Stayed at a resort on the Canada side of the lake and fished the Sabaskong Bay area. Had a good time catching Muskies and Northerns. Had many fish follow the bait to the boat then lose interest during the figure eight. Even had two large bass attack my baits.

As per a typical trip we had 25mph winds gusting to 60 mph during one full day and were unable to get out on the water that day. Just a bit chilly with lows dipping into the 40's one night and highs in the mid 60's.

Didn't take many photos, the fish in the above photo measured 40 inches. The largest we caught was 46 and the smallest was 30 inches. Already looking forward to next years trip.

Looks like a great time! Reminds me that it has been too long since I fished for Muskies and Northerns. Kenora is my birthplace and they were the first fish I ever went after with my father. :)

SSSWWWEEETTTTT. Muskies are one of my "bucket list" fish. Second behind Paddlefish on the freshwater list.

Will I have to wear on of those tummy tuck rigs you're wearing when I catch one?

Hopefully you at least have one picture of the 46" fish...

Entirely optional,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and FYI they are known as a BACK SUPPORT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, tummy tuck, sheesh. :>)

I should have gotten a photo of a 42 incher but my boat partner had trouble operating my camera, go figure. This 46 incher belongs to my boat partner.

You say back support I say girdle. Not that I don't need one as well but I'll wear mine under my shirt. And get the cut down model so it doesn't act as a push up bra for the moobs.

Pike and Muskies in the same lake Dave?

Same lake yet different overlapping areas preferred. Water temps and such will dictate just when and where one will find each specie. Most of the pike we were running into were smaller 20-26 but a local fella we know reported catching three pike in the 40+inch range in one afternoon.

That's awesome...the fish of 10,000 casts!. Congrats!!! Muskies are my favorite to fish for. Some day I'll make the trip out to the Lake of the Woods. Keep at it ...that 50 incher is the next step.

Way to go Dave. Nice fish and a great lake to fish. Haven't been to LAke of the Woods in 20 years, I think it's time to go back.

All rigged and ready for my own musky hunt in a couple of weeks but this time with a fly rod.

46"!!! Holy crap that's a big fella! Good job Dave.

That one in the picture is a beautiful looking fish.

I've been fishing in the shallow bays just south from the bridge in Marsh Lake where me and you went and catching lots of males in the 24 - 26" range.

Mac went out looking for pike on another lake yesterday and said there were shallow bays stacked with them, possibly trying to warm up.
