Grassing boat #2

There's a few still around. I have the spray dodger but it has a small tear and a few of the snaps need some counseling.

It does require time and patience. It's mindless work, but rewarding. I'm so not ready, however I did get my duck stamp so that's done -LOL

Once it's finished I'll try and post both boats in action.

can you post a photo of the spray shield.
I remember they had 2 versions. One that had snaps from the dodger to the decks to keep it watertight when not in use. The other That did not but they can a canvas that snapped on the hold deck.
 
Here are some earlier photos with the spray shield up. It has a hard fiberglass cover for the cockpit area. You can see I have a tear in the upper right side and the snaps are shot. Since it's getting close to the season I may just have to deal with it for one more, I hope.

The last photo shows the remnants of the first 5# box of raffia and the contents of a fresh 5# box. There was a clearance sale on the grass so I bought a few.

I just hope the boat is invisible to the ducks this year!

The snaps and tear is a pretty easy fix. Were the decoy racks removed? What I find interesting is a hard cover on a boat that looks like the newer style. I have seen a ton of areo 2 man newer style and not one had a hard cover. Do you have the one man or 2 man boat?
 
Bill, it's a 1982 Aeromarine 2 man capacity. It didn't have decoy racks when I bought if from a fella named David out in Freeport more than 16 years ago. I have never seen another since, but I did run into a guy who told me he had a one man version, but I never saw it physically.

I almost put it up for sale after the accident, however my best friend convinced me to hold on to her. I said if I'm keeping her she's going to need a new look. Plus it's keeping me birdy, active and positive.

If I finish before the LI boat show in October and I'm not committed to my wife's schedule I'll bring her out to the show. At a minimum once done I will post a picture!

I just bought one of these...a 1980 and I believe its a 2 man. I cant get over how low profile it is. how much Raffia did you end up using for the boat and can you show a recent phot? thanks in advance.
 
It took about 5-7 lbs of raffia, and I used a fishnet for the base. I?ll try and post the finished set up once I pull it out of the garage. These boats are nice boats.

Great job on the "thatching" ! You should bring it to the SSWA Duckboat Show on October 29 - Cedar Beach in Babylon. (SSWA just announced it.)

I never owned or hunted a Pryor boat, but they were very well designed and built.

I am sure You have the 2 man. They called in a 2 man the only problem with hunting 2 men it they both needed to either be right or left handed. Right and left did not work.
 
Hi this is Captain DON LAW I saw a reference to the duck boat show in Cedar Beach could you please let me know where I can get the application I found that the site was outdated
