Sayin' Z loves this dog is an understatement...
They roll in the floor together - every night.
Until both are laying there with their heads sharing the same pillow - a sleep.
So you can bet, Z was tickled to be going to the hunt test with her boy "binky" as she calls him...
For me... I was tickled Z was excited to be going! I can't lie though... I was nervous about taking Lincoln. LOL
It has been at least 9 or 10 years since I had ran in a HRC event, so... You know, I was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

We arrived early and the day's testing started with Water - Lincoln did well, I felt.
We were to return after lunch for the Land test...
and between the test and lunch something had happened to my hound... Lincoln was not the laid back sporting dog, I was use too...
Oh No, he had done figured out that these hunt test games.... are filled with all kinds of things that give him great joy!
And for some odd reason, corrections that he was accustom too receiving.... wasn't happening.... He was free at last!
LOL - he wasn't that bad... but at the end of the first day, I was still nervous and left wondering - if we made the cut.

On Saturdays when all testing is completed the host club holds banquet for all the handlers, judges, bird techs, etc...etc... - there you learn your fate from the days performance.
Good or bad news is better on a full stomach..... I guess
The food of course was great - Hickory Smoked BBQ - Hard to beat southern BBQ... and Z and I chowed down - Bellies Full!
After the food was gone.... the judges made their way to the front to hand out ribbons...... the time has come.
Our Nerves were about to get the best of Z and me... and once they started calling out the dogs that passed... we started to think that our dog number was lost.
but finally at the very bottom of the stack - sure enough... Dog #11 was called - WHEW-WHEW-WHEW! What a relief!
Z just about ran over folks getting up there to get the ribbon. - she was happy!
My Son Tyler had Double Header in Birmingham and missed out on the fun. But he had his mom call to get updates.
They went 1-1.
He pitched well from what I was told but was being squeezed at the plate.
He left the game at the end of the 3rd and they were down 2-0 - They lost 8-1.
With Saturday under our belt. I felt good going into day 2.
Plus I had an additional hunt test buddy... life was good!
This is probably the only time they got along - for the most part... Haha
Sunday's testing started with Water again....
Lincoln was top shelf this morning and I felt real good going into the land test.
Things move just a little bit quicker on Sundays as the club/judges hustle and do their best to get dogs in and tested - giving people time for travel back home...
And Once the smoke cleared from the Land test that afternoon - I felt good about getting ribbon #2 for the weekend...
and sure enough..............
Z's - New South's Wham Bam Abraham was called...
Smiles everywhere! - Whew!
Z loves Lincoln - Crazy like!
To me this say's it all! - - She was so proud of him!
On our way home - - we had to stop by of favorite place to have a little fun - the old crooked creek by the house.
Ol' Lincoln was licking his Chops and we tossed him many, many Happy bumpers....
All-n-All - It was a great event. The local club here NAHRC did a fantastic job and I look forward to the next one...
although my nerves are shot - doing this with my kids made it great.
I am blessed... a great family and a good dog... a man don't need much more than that....
Oh its not complete without a picture the dog+ribbon shot - LOL
My little wanna-b-retriever - has his family even prouder of him.
They roll in the floor together - every night.
