Guess that's why they call it a "duck boat!"

Came down to the harbor this afternoon, and this little rascal was taking a nap on the front of my boat. (Sorry about the photo quality--all I had was my phone.) I thought someone had stuck a decoy on there until he lifted his head and looked at me.

By the way, anyone know the best way to repair a 6" hole in the bow of a Devlin Bluebill?

Rick

I had three of them on my canvas cockpit cover of my sneakbox. I should have taken a pic but I rushed to scare them away before they pooed on it!

Rick, thta's pretty cool but how did you put a 6" hole in the bluebill?

I guess he approved of the camo job!...lol

...i can hear it now, "but officer its true, he wouldn't fly away"........ ;)

That has to be a good sign for the rest of the season. Sure glad you had your cell phone. Now that you have seen what can happen, put a couple of decoys out there some day and maybe it will work---

Rick- Where did you get you AWS? I had a Barth dog for many years- he was a reat character/companion and good retriever( wasn't his fault he was poorly trained). I'm thinking about another one.

Mickey is a Barth dog.

I was fortunate to meet Mary Barth a couple years before she passed away. She and her husband John were real champions of the breed.

I don't know if Swan Lake Kennel is still in operation. Last I heard their daughter was running it.

He looks "barthy". Al the AWS I have seen since were very small ( except for Gary Mrch's Dog- she looks good sized). Gus was huge- 65 pounds and all muscle and attitude. His tail never stopped wagging when we were hunting. People constantly asked me what kind of poodle he was- "He's not a frikkin' poodle." He's been gone for 5 years and I still miss him- yellow-eyed lunatic that he was...

Same here. Mickey is 55lbs and most people assume he's a poodle. Though every once in a while I run into someone who says something like, "My grandpa used to have a dog like that."
