Help Identifying Layout Boat

Looking to purchase this fiberglass over wood layout boat. Looking to get and more info on it. Current owner states it's manufactured, but can't find any markings. 16' long. Also trying to figure out if a 22hp predator mud motor would be to much for it. Thanks

Yep, Looks like one of Lou's boats.
A 22hp mud motor would be way over powered. It's only rated for a 6 hp outboard.
Aren't these displacement hulls?
Looks like someone set this up to hunt is as a marsh boat. Did they plug the hole for the sculling oar in the stern? Not that it wouldn't work, but definitely not what this boat is designed to do.

Specifications of the"THE BRANT II" include:

Length.......................16'1"
Beam..........................45"
Depth Amidship..........18"
Approx. Weight..........160 lbs.
Maximum Capacity.....2
Weight Capacity...........465 lbs.
Horsepower Rating.....6 H.P.
*Meets U.S.C.G. Standards

If the boat is a Brant II, it shouldn't be glass over wood as the OP believes. Maybe what the current owner believes to be wood is actually foam core or similar? Or were some made with wood?

Thanks for all the help guys. Current owner has been quite helpful. But his son bought it and it's gone through 3 or 4 owners before him.

For reference, I put a 2hp Mud Runner on my double ended 14 ft Kara Hummer and it as fast as I care to go. RM
