I hope Jeff Foiles isn't in the habit of

I gave up TV a while back. I dont miss it. But I didnt know who the angry guy was in the Cabelas catalog in the "Office". Just figured he was a regular joe who was ticked off because it is so expensive to make a goose call and have to compete with the chinese on price to get into the big book from Sydney.

No one could be that mad if you actually have some birds in your decoys working. I mean I could see it if you lived in New England and had to hunt on our slow days, but that sure dosnt look like the case.

I am sure he will smile at the judge in his sunday best when his big dollar lawyer is telling the man in the robe how the undercover wardens entrapped him and his crew the 4 times they hunted as a party.

With the money being made on equipment sales and endorsements and video sales, I dont think we will be seeing an apology for violating federal game laws to make a profit.

I hope he gets the book thrown at him but I doubt it. I'm sure sponsors are running from him.

I wish these charges could come up quicker then three to seven years. Am I seeing things too simple if I think when one of these hunts is seen by an undercover officer that he should have been run in later that day? Yes I know they want to get them on more...but hey if I have one lead shell in my pocket they aren't going to let me go to see if I use it later to take a bird over my limit so they can get me on something bigger.
I guess I never get that every time it happens.

This thread reminds me of a video from a couple of years ago where the same man was accused of having four shells in his gun. Apparently you could clearly see him fire four times in the video. I believe he explained it by saying there was editing or slight of hand or some such thing. While I realize he is owed his day in court these things have a way of catching up with a fellow.

I know a couple of Conservation Officers, one of whom has done a lot of undercover work. They often let the situation persist if they are trying to make a link to a business connection or other individuals. It is nice to bust the poacher but it is even better to take down their entire network. It does wear on the CO as well. I know one guy who is counting the days to retirement. He has seen enough abuse of our resources for a few life times and he is at the point now where he just wants to relax and do a little hunting and fishing.

I think jail time would send a clear message. He is an ICON to the youg guns out there. I hope the judge makes the right decision.

david you are 100% right there are a lot of guys that think they can do no wrong while hunters look up to men like jeff throw the book at him

Greed is a very persuasive lady. He's fortunate that Joliet prison was closed in 2002. Maybe they'll put in the new prison in Thompson, IL. It's at least close to the river so he'll be able to hear some shooting come next hunting season.

Take care,

Ed L.

Isn't it amazing what GREED will do to a person. To already have so much but needing more----what a pity. I agree with you, Tim. I hope the Feds throw the book at him. Make him pay where it hurts! Mostly, I hope they can take his hunting privileges away for years.

If he gets jail time I would bet it"ll be @ FPC which is gravy for time, Maybe a FCI LOW. It'll be federal time not state. Don't get me wrong it's not fun but, USP Lewisburg, USP Terre Huete, or USP Levinworth would replace his angry face and tears. Also if conficted his next video could be called "fallin arrows" because, Felon = no firearms. Therefore Hunting would be limited even without revoking privilage. Hope the Feds stick it in him and break it off. IMO

Just a thought here guys, and not trying to defend anyone or say anything else, but aren't we supposed to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
I also have been very doubtful about how these guys get so many birds so regularly for the videos and have felt many times this same situation may have taken place. And if proven guilty he deserves everything the long hand of the law can dish out. Still, I'm going to let this play out before jumping on the stump to yell hang him.

OOOOPS there goes my guiding business...my sponsors....which will in turn ruin his call business...and hopefully a lifetime ban of hunting priveleges...and then he won't be allowed into Canada any more either because of his criminal convictions...talk about screwing yourself real good..oh yeah like Eric said the inmates will be doing that for him.....great example for his own kids...what a douchebag.......Dave

Big time Jeff gots the blues. It is a shame and a disgrace that one of the top icons in the waterfowl industry would sell his soul for a dollar bill. The bottom line I don't see any jail time for him. If one has enough money and knows the right people in this sold out country he can just about get away with anything. I don't know about Canada but there is probably alot of corruption there also. Money talks and BS walks.
Just My 2 Cents

Screw him

I have met him in person. He did seem like a GRADE A HOLE, only interested in making a buck. I doubt he was making millions, but making a living in the hunting business is to many is a dream job. Why screw it up and take risks, break laws?

I think one thing that people miss it that it isn't a dream job for most. Trying to make a living in the hunting business is a bitch, you are on your own with with long hours, seasonal pay, and asshole clients to deal with. From what I've seen, it is the rare individual that can thrive under those conditions and maintain their scruples.

I can definitely agree with that. You turn a fun hobby into a job. Not fun anymore. But many still would be happy to do it rather than what they are doing now.
