Stef,

Truly amazing. I sat staring at that last picture expecting it to blink!

Take care,

Ed L.

Stef,
That's too cool.
I'm looking forward to more of the step-by-step carving process pictures.

Best,
Brian F.

Thanks All, i will post new photo each time i will touch the bird...

Joe, the eyes is in glass, it a tohikon brand..., i use a un painted eye , and paint it myself ... because this bird will be not a snowy owl color as you can see normaly... ( you will see later..

The yellow i use is a little bit more orange ...

Taken straight from the Alaska fish and game website.....

All birds of prey—hawks, falcons, eagles, and owls—are protected by federal regulations, and it is unlawful to possess any raptor (dead or alive) or any portion of one, including its feathers and talons. However, the traditional and continuing subsistence use of snowy owls in Alaska is recognized; federal and state regulations allow these raptors or their eggs to be taken for food or their skins for clothing. There is no closed season and no bag limit on snowy owls, when they are used for food or clothing, in five of Alaska's game management units in southwestern, western, and arctic Alaska.

I know the season is also open on cormorants if anyone has a hankerin'!

Chris, for sure, anywhere you cant hunt , kill or possess a Bird of prey anywhere on the planet without a legal permit ...

The wing you see in the back of my snowy is a reel Snowy Owl. It a study bird i use for make a very good full decorative decoy. It will be not a hunting decoy ...

All my study bird ( bird of prey ) it come from UQROP, it a rehabilitation center and it legal in Quebec .... you probably see more part of this bird in few photo in futur..

it will be the 3 times i will made it life size. in 24 years

And about the bronze, i received a email yesterday ... if all will be good , it will be a full body bronze ( and i will not pay the first edition shuttttttttt ) . A investor will pay it for me ....

Beautiful, Stef. Is that one solid block or did you glue up pieces?

Always interesting to see your work take shape, step by step. Thanks for the thread.

Bob, at this time it a one piece .. in futur it will be only 2 pieces .. the owl and the snow ... , no insert wing or feathers ..

thanks about all your comments. i m will be in vacancy for the next week, i know i have to mount a moose head .. and want to carve the snowy ...

Stef,
amazing work and photos. I too thought it was going to blink at any moment. Very helpful to see how you work the block from the rough state to a finished work.
