I think it hides

With the Mississippi still being 4-5 feet above normal, and significant winds I have resorted to going to some small local areas. These are under 150 acres so, if you are not the first one there... you are not going have many opportunities, unless you like sites close enough to talk to the other hunters. Saturday I slept in, and was expecting to see several boats at the landing....instead one fisherman was getting ready to launch. I glassed what looked to be about 13 bills. I was already here... so at 8:30 I launched. I had two individual divers buzz by with the afterburners on. I managed to land a dozen honkers with just my bad flute work and 20 Can decoys... but they were 50+ yards out. 4 more flew right over the top of me.... I was thinking I should have not left the 10 ga in the truck!!!!!

As the day progressed I saw a diver dropping air, and was coming right to me, when to the right, two damn puddle duck were also cupped in. You probably can guess which one got there first...

Otter got his first Mallard.

Sunday I went out for an evening hunt at a local marsh. The group that was there, was literally in the best spot.. .which also happened to be in the middle of the 124 acres. I tucked in just behind a point. I am not going to say it was a bad spot, as I only heard them shoot a few times. I saw no ducks. Otter did get a lesson in patience, as the cattails that we were next to were ALIVE with Red-Winged Blackbirds... I think my lens was a little fogged over, but it still did an OK job of capturing the scene. I think the boat blends in pretty well.

Yep... only the back 32 or 34" are open. There is a split hinged front section, for if I could ever find anyone that wanted to hunt with me... until then I keep puddle duck decoys in there.. the middle 45" covers where I keep 8 1/2 doz foam diver decoys. It is a hinged 1 piece The tops are strong enough to walk on. Kodi always sat on top.

I sit on a milk crate. and perhaps the throwable.

It hides well!
It looks like the river is finally dropping. Dekes are in the boat ready for our journey to the Big River!
Otter did a nice job on the Mallard. [;)]

Nice hide with the boat but being a dog man I just love that expression on otters face in first pic. Got to love a young dog yearning to please the boss!

I think he might be the boss...

Yup, they usually are. I have an 8-month old lab who is quite sure that he's the boss! [;)]

The boat is a nice setup, you and your pup are sure to enjoy many successful hunts out of it.

Looks really great! It always throws me through a loop to see pictures of folks gunning where you don't have to worry about tide! Although I guess the water levels do fluctuate quite a bit regardless.

LOL.... those pictures are at a small lake or pond. Even on the Mississippi, we do not worry about constant fluxuation.. only high water from flooding...

Yes. It is Prairie Cordgrass. I zip tie it into little bundles, then zip tie it to the grassing rails that are epoxied on to the boat. I find that it wears very well, but drys too yellow, so I end up spray painting it with brown and black paint, as needed.

I think he's asking you "Dad, why did you make me pose with this bread-eating park duck???? Lets go back out there and get some 'bills & cans!"

Thanks for the info Phil. I really like yours better than the high blinds on most TDB/Bankes/Duckboss style boats.

I think you nailed the perfect size blind and boat combo. Seems to be the one of the most versatile setups I have seen for killing.
