I wasn't going to say anything, but I just have to....

Back in the early fall I had what I thought was a benign tumour surgically removed. A week later I was told by the doctor it was stage 1 cancer, and that I needed to have another surgery to have a safety margin cut out around the original incision. I asked the doctor if it could wait till after duck season? He laughed and asked when was that? The week before Christmas I said. He allowed as how it could wait and I had the second surgery the day after Christmas.

As I was being wheeled into the operating room the Doctor asked me "how was your season?" Gotta love that....

Today I had the first follow up visit and the doctor told me that the lab says he got it all and that I am good to go, all I need is to come back every 6 months or so for an xray.

Like I said in the title, I have to tell somebody.....

Great news! Cancer is a scary thing and I so glad you caught it early. I'll drink a beer for ya.

So, what's the meaning of life?

...duck hunting:-)

Great news John!

Cancer runs rampant in my family. For me it's just a matter of when. I have become very aware of how other people react when faced with such a diagnosis. I've been making mental notes along the way.

I'm really happy for you. Looks like we'll be reading many more of your posts, for many years to come!

John, congratulations and best wishes! I have a dermatologist who insists on me leaving the office with less than I came in with every six months, but it sure beats the alternative! All the best, Rufus

I'm sure happy for you, John. That is the best news in the world. Good to hear you had such a great surgeon.
