Inlet Runner garvey

Saw this article in Small Boats Monthly and thought I'd share as there have periodically been discussions of self-baling. These plans might be a good basis for a self-baling SG-type duckboat by reducing the cockpit/adding more deck. Has a bit more beam, too, I think.

Henry, Great article. I have questioned others whether Devlin's Cackler could be modified to self bail. Collecting water in the bilge of a wood boat never seemed like a good idea to me. Thanks for finding and sharing this article. RM

Interesting, that video made it look like it is really light (and poorly loaded). Long planing surface there compared to the snow goose. Seems like it would be a good option for a garvey and easily made into a duck boat.

I love the garvey. After I got rid of my old Robalo CC which I kept in Barnegat Light for fishing the ocean and the bay, I thought that if I ever get a boat for the shore again it would be for the bay only and would be a garvey. And it would be built locally and be wood. In the right water, like the coastal bays of NJ that are fairly shallow but pretty big, it's hard to beat.
