Is this what I think it is??

Bob,

I'd agree with Brad, looks like many of the Bald Eagles I saw this year over on the river. I have never seen as many Bald Eagles as I did this year. I was looking at an island in the distance with my binoculars one day and counted 35 eagles either in trees or on an ice shelf. Most days we had 7-8 messing around out in front of us. Also this year I had a GE stolen by an eagle before we could get to it - a first.

A bit of trivia: It takes a Bald Eagle seven years to reach maturity and only then does it get it's white head.

Bob,

I've seen two of these, and a pair of adult bald eagles, on our stretch of the river this season. I've only seen two other eagles around us on the river over the past five or so years. Its kind of interesting to see bald eagles making there way into our area.

I'd like to know if this is one of the same ones that I have seen. Actually, I'm just wondering, are we hunting the same creeks/sluoghs.

Driving by Paducah in Northern Kentucky and in Southern Illinois I saw Eagles and Hawks every mile and some times several at a time. Driving down the interstate at 70 miles a hour trying to beat a snow storm up North didn't allow me time to take pictures. Bob that sure is a good picture. I have been working to get a good one all year of one flying. Timing, focus, lighting, all coming together at the same time. We have a Eagles nest about three hundred and fifty yards from the house and can hear the the young eagles late in the year when they are hungry. They make quite a racket. When the young one is just learning to fly the adults come to the nest less frequently and finally wean the young one, during this time the young one really makes a racket. End of free meals.
