It's March What's on your workbench?

Great work by everyone! Tom - love those ruddys. They remind of the closing day of the season last year when we were hunting divers from a fairly elevated blind. We had a hen ruddy swim by us right in front of the blind which gave us a perfect top view of her. She was as round as a pie plate!

Got the head and bill painted on my black duck....

Thanks Dave.... funny you mentioned the round Ruddy top profile. Last night I sketched a new pattern for another pair of them, and I used a three pound coffee can as the outline for the top profile. These are gonna be some way out Ruddies.... Don't tell Keith, but it was not Starbucks coffee...........:-)

Dave-

You should probably just give me that greasy old puddle duck. Lord knows you don't get anywhere near the marsh.

I'll swing by and pick him up in about a month. Is that long enough for the paint to dry?

........

In all seriousness....DAMN SON!! I think he just blinked.

im just kidding tony. i was just curious cause they do look quite red, i figured it was the picture. you had me guessing cause i couldnt quite remember if they were yellow or red. pochards and cans have red eyes and red heads have yellow.

if they were red that would be a gorgeous pochard decoy.

good looking birds tony

I'd give him to you but I know you don't want an oil slick in the rig from all the grease that would come off him. Why don't you show off them purdy white wings you're working on?

Great work everyone. There is some real talent on this site. This is a wonderful thread.

Here is a bird I finished up this month. Hollow Pine Barrow's, painted in oils.

but your not supposed to be shooting lead,,,,,,,, at least not at a decoy. Remeber bullets can be made from many different materials. :>) :>)

Fantastic Ramsey!!!!! To make it easier on this crew......instead of id'ing the wood as bulletwood, say you used Manilkara bidentata ......that'll slow them down!! :)

Excellent bird!!
