It's March What's on your workbench?

Tom, Can't tell you how much I wish we had programs out your way. Would love to spend some time in your comapny. That heron is beautiful. I just love your smoothies.

Thanks John and Steve....yep the Heron is lifesize. They are really not very big. One several visits to La. when I went to the decoy show there I saw these little guys. The Cajuns had another name for the Tri Colored Heron. but I can not remember what it was....And If I did remember it I know I could not spell it...lol

thats gonna be one wicked decoy when its done......

Bob I just got the "clearance sale" thing you sent......I couldn't open the attachment and hadn't seen the post that it referred to.....looking through some earlier posts I saw the "subjects" and it suddenly became obvious.....funny stuff......

Steve

Steve- Ban these guys, I cant take any more of this. These guys make my blocks look like a 3 year olds blob of play dough.
J Lawrence. Can you share your painting techniques/steps, I really like the warm-smooth patina look.

and if that doesn't work for you then you can quit....this isn't a very friendly place anyway.....too much "jocularity" donchaknow.....

If you hadn't bagged on on decoy carving class early you're decoys wouldn't look like "art class in Kindergarten".....come back this year and stay the entire time and I promise your work will improve......

Steve

Mike, glad you got that picture thing figured out. That's a workbench photo! None of this nonsence of cleaning up and making a nice display.

Derek, don't quit yet! You got a pintail to finish first!

Chuck

A bit new to carving. Some pine bodies and basswood heads. I only have a 12" bandsaw so cutting side profiles doesn't usually work for me. Makes more to cut off later.

Mallard will likely never get finished as it was a practice piece and had a huge crack. The GE's are for no certain reason one of my favorite decoys so I thught I would work on a rig of them.
