Hope it was worth the wait...

that one buck looks like a 150-160 class deer. I sure would like a crack at him
He's only about 150lbs though!!
Not what I would call a "Big Buck" as a meat hunter he'd walk....maybe...;)

Matt,
This fella is hanging on to them, have noticed a few others without recently.

Wis..."Me thinks we have another Hitch! "...Is that good or bad?

Shermie...that coal could be in the fire...;)

Neil, do they still get all those Bald Eagles showing up near Canning, NS? Or somewhere up that way. I seem to remember from when I lived in NS that they set out dead chickens for them in the winter and it attracts alot of eagles.

Neil I am learning to shoot birds in flight and have a ? - did you use a polarizing filter on the shot of the drake eider ?

that shot is really great !

Thanks for sharing the pictures Neil. all the pictures were great. The ones that real trip my trigger were the hawks. Calender pictures for sure.

Yes they do.
It is in Sheffield Mills/Canning.
That shot was taken very close to there, we saw probably 50 eagles in about an hour of driving around, not sure when the big feeding day for pics is but it is crazy that day up there.

Sarge,
The Eider drake was taken on a dreadfully overcast day is all.
I use a UV neutral filter on front of all my lenses simply for lens protection.
Much cheaper to replace if scratched and = less cleaning required for front lens itself.
Good luck with the birds in flight/action,they are alotta fun.
The last four pics were taken first summer I had the new cam/300mm...ruined me,now I'm always trying for them.
This year there wasn't many ducks around (very dry) and I really wanted to turn the 500mm loose on some....come on spring 09'!!!!

I also hit the Harlequins the other day.
The cliffs are very icy this year making it rather difficult.
We will be seeing more of them in the future...the 500mm is gonna smoke em this year.

Absolutely Wonderful Picture...Those Harlies are gorgeous...Great sun light and exposure showing there true colors...

Regards,

Kristan

partly for the quality, partly for the variety, and also for the keen eye and excellent composition......I also like it that you don't leave out photos that aren't "tack sharp" and "perfectly color balanced" and that you don't crop tightly like so many people do...I love a "looser" crop that shows some habitat and some motion over the more static closely cropped photos.....

And you also throw in something special.....this time three something specials.....White Winged Crossbills, Bohemian Waxwings and that doe with the testicles....

MORE PICTURES......soon I hope

Steve
