Last Dog Walk, or This really sucks Marcus.

I recently read the book, "Lone Survivor." and the thoughts about what it means to know there is just nothing you can do about some things were close at heart these last three days.
On saturday my best girl just couldn't make it up from the grass to take our morning dog walk. She wanted it so bad and I just was aching for her to make it. No way. My boy(Darn near a man after this) sat with her, his faithful companion for all of his 10 years.

She had some kind of stroke or seizure when she was sleeping in the night. The first one took her vision in one eye and weakened her hind quarters. This left her struggling to make her way, but still eating and responding to our voices.
We all did our best to make peace as best as we could during the time we had, and now knew was going way too fast.
The hardest part is watching time take something you have spent your whole family time with. For us Haley was our family. Three kids, one dog, one cat, one fish.
A house is just not the same without a dog running to the door when you come home.

Big shoes for the next one to fill. I am not sure I could ever do just one dog again. I grew up with 2 or 3 and it just sucks to have to be the one who makes the call......and come home to a place with out your best friend.
Since the beginning I have read these and always tried to imagine what to say. Words cant do the feelings justice.

Sorry to hear that Bob, awful thing to go through. What a life captured in those pictures.

Sorry for your loss Bob. It's difficult to part with such a good friend that has shared
so much with you. Only dog people can really understand.

That's a wonderful picture tribute. A lot of us have experienced the same pain you are feeling and it is never easy. You are not alone during these hard times. It does get better and memories are fond so go ahead and shed the tears. We all understand the bond and the pain when it's lost.

I am sorry to hear about your friend... But i can say today from my recent loss that with time your smile will return and the pride you felt for them will soon swell your chest once again when you speak their name.
