Layout blinds

I use an Avery ultra low dog hide. My biggest dog can easily be concealed. When using a layout blind my dog (in the hide) is either right behind me or in certain situations placed remotely. It is safer placed in back, off to the side or remotely.
Jim, that's what I do. In some situations, I've had my dog and his blind as much as 25-30 yards behind the layout blinds and hunters. I think his field of view is much better and he is less inclined to spook birds with head movement while watching birds work. Kane is only 84 lbs. in working condition, but I can't imagine him inside of a layout blind with me and the doors closed up and everything. Coming out of the blind to shoot without the dog bumping me is another thing I can't imagine not happening. Makes me think of the folks I see driving with dogs in their laps...lol.

Jack,

I hunt with my 70lb chocolate lab Bryant in my layout, which doesn't have a bottom hatch, which means he has to exit from the top. Every third retrieve or so, he somehow he manages to launch squarely off my giblets with both feet. The good news it that at that point I'm reloading anyway...so I have a minute or two to catch my breath.

By the way, if you do decide to go with a separate dog blind, let me know. I have a Mutt Hutt 2 that was used twice sitting in my basement somewhere.

LMAO!!! I rest my case!!!

Capt Jack, these are Avery blinds we have up in North Dakota. They have straps all over them that you tuck waste wheat, corn cuttings or whatever you are hunting in, into. By the way, Capt Meat came down to my shop today, says florida is too hot to suit him this winter! Rich.

Capt. Jack Another N.D. picture there are four blinds here and two dog blinds, We learned to bring a couple of garden rakes with us in the trailer to gather up our blind material. Some grass is on the blinds all the time and we add whatever we are hunting in. Rich.

Capt. Jack,
I just spent a week gunning from a Final Approach blind for snow geese and I wouldn't have wanted a dog of any size in there with me. I am 5'6" and go about 230 and it was a cozy fit for me. The guides that we used had the seperate huts for their dogs and had them positioned at the head end of their own blinds. If you are looking for blinds, I would check Roger's sporting goods online. They make an oversized one for larger individuals. One of my hunting partners has one and he loves the fit. He goes 6'2" and around 300 and also has the the optional back spring device to help him up. Again, my feeling on sharing with a dog would be no. Just my 2 cents worth
