Long Island Ice Scooter - Rehab efforts - 8/30 update, Anchor box and input for motor box

I am not so worried about knocking the OB off as it is only a 2hp, and I will be using the scooter for open water layout hunting, but I will be pulling it once on anchor and while it is light, I will be reaching out to pull it off and bring it aboard. Once in the cockpit, I can unhook the leash from the deck cleat.

That's just really, really cool, Dave. You did a fantastic job on her and I've really enjoyed following her progress! Now I'm sitting here thinking of all the places around here that that design would work......I may have to bring that design out west!

Dave,

Cool boat! I love her lines. Very "pumpkinseed-y!" I hope you get that ol' one-lunger running strong! That's a mighty fine blast from the past.

Robert, the Neptune ran pretty well a couple years ago when I got it and put some effort into it.... will try again once the weather is nicer to fuss with it in a couple weeks. Need to find the literature I collected on it with plug gap and such.... I have some brand new NOS Champion plugs for it but the electrode is a different configuration from what I got with the motor and am thinking the gap may be too great. Seems to be a stronger spark, though still not bright, with the old plug. May return to that and get back into it. Will check the points regardless. If I want to hunt that motor, it needs to be dependable.

So a couple side projects. I finished off a cedar box/tray that I had built for another purpose a few years ago. It was nearly the perfect size to store the layout anchor and throwing grapnel anchor.

The idea is to keep the anchors from bouncing around while trailering and also to keep things organized while heading to and from the hunting grounds.

This box fits well at the end of the floors in the stern.

Next up, I am thinking about a box/tray for the outboard. There is more space in the bow and will be where the outboard is stored while hunting. I am envisioning a similar, tray that will be carpeted on the bottom so it will slide more easily and not beat up the inside of the hull. I have some red cedar scraps for the end caps and some fence boards for the sides and bottom... maybe some rope handles on the ends?

What else should I add to it?
