Love Days Like Today!!

Thanks all.

Al, I have to tell you that that is the 1st and only wigeon we've shot in 30 years after mid November. We actually saw 2. Both were with flocks of Cans which was kind of cool as I've read that they often steal food from the Cans when they come up from a dive.

MLBob mentioned archiving this hunt in the memory banks. We had a guy with us that has been trying to get his first Can for years. We had a group of about 20 working when a single Bull broke off. Straight in, feet down, 25 yards. Shot breaks, bird folds and hits the water belly up. The next 5 minutes that followed were the best. Shawn was so excited he almost threw his gun. He started jumping around like he scored the winning touchdown at the superbowl. He ran on top of the water (which wasn't frozen yet) to retrieve his prize. For the rest of the day you couldn't remove the grin from his face with a plasma torch and sand blaster. He must have thanked us 1000 times. On a side note, he had a chance to get his second bull a couple times...he only went home with one. We blamed it on the strong winds blowing his shot string 5 feet behind the birds.

I've had the privilege of having 7 different people hunting with me when they shot their first Bull Can. It never gets old watching that. I remember each one although Shawn's was probably the most animated reaction. That was the best part about yesterday, and every duck hunt for that matter. Memories with good people in cool places.

There are more bull cans in that one picture than I have myself seen in 30 seasons of water fowling combined.
