All~

Failed trying to get larger images from Photobucket to here....

The Oldsquaw is for Ralph Nocerino - an old friend who used to run the U S National Decoy Show. He's taken many ribbons and has some birds at Ward Foundation. 'Squaw is hollow basswood, limbwood hickory tail mortised in, painted in oils.

Broadbill Senior is my first-ever foamer. Sea trials - in about 2 inches of water on Long Island last weekend. It's a 150% bird - a friend wanted it as the lead bird on his trolls.

Black Duck foamer is 130 %. I just take my normal patterns to Kinko's and enlarge. I'm painting this Brant for another friend. It's made of urethane; looks like it was molded from a Wildfowler original.

Brant are rinsing salt and mud away in prep for a total "makeover"....they are Herters Model 81s and 92s.

'twill be a busy month...and the days are getting longer!

All the best,

SJS

Hey Dave - I told George, Hells Bells thats clean enough to eat off of, for him it's Spic & Span! How many dead critters, paint brushes, tools and stuff did he find? Would have been a great dig for some college students...........

Brazil teal pair I'm painting on. Bound for Florida . Pink Floyd and a left handed cigarette.

Thanks, Dave--That is as clean as it has been since 1997, from some of the rubble i discarded on the right side-No, Vince, i did NOT find Jimmy Hoffa, but i did find a sur-form drum rasp..Had to quit using them when the foredom started popping the tack welds. Worked great in a drill,, sure beat hand rasping. AIN'T technology GREAT?
Sean, you need to take a trip to Argentina--That is one i am still looking to add to the life list, and they ARE there. Bucket list time, fella!!

Mike - Stamping occurs during the carving process. The sealer comes after the carving is complete as normal. Glad to share my painting. Might be easier to do a video someday than pictures and text. I don't keyboard very fast... :)

I appreciate the kind words regarding my work. Hopefully, great grandpa would be proud... Here are some pics of him painting a mallard hen back in the 50's... BTW, I was fortunate enough to get the paint wheel on his right in the first picture. I need to restore the base but will post it up for others to see. Really quite ingenius how he built it...

Wow, Those teal are very cool. Don't think I ever saw those before.

Here's a Mallard that was one of a handful of ducks that were in my house being painted and avoided the blaze. Finished it up yesterday.

Feels weird not having my"favorite" brushes, chair, lighting, etc..........but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Pat,
Those old photos are cool and Great Grandpa has plenty to be proud of.
I wish guys still wore hats like that. Love looking at old photos and seeing all the guys in brimmed hats. My mom has pictures of my grandpa shelling corn and most of the guys are wearing their "work" fedoras.
