rather than a slew of actual "workbench" photos, I'll share one of everything I've finished in the past month or so. All in cork, cedar heads, and acrylic paints. Currently working on another rig of giant eider, a rig of wood ducks, and a teal. oh yeah...and a boat.
Finished up my foamer divers. Thanks again to Jon Yenulonis for the good deal on the model 63 heads!
Time to start working on the next ones, I am gong to refurbish the first ones I made, round up the bodies, modify the keels, etc...
I will post some pics of that processes as it takes place.
Great flock as always! I love that Goosander. Reminds me that I need to carve a replacement for myself - will probably "borrow" some of your styling cues.
I love the style Colin and you executed it perfectly. I also have to say, I love making the canvas dekes about as much as any style. I think it's the "common material" aspect of it. The eyes and cork are the only specialize items in mine. Even the heads are carved with red cedar 2x4's from Lowe's.
I got 5 Mallard field decoys from Guy Soden. I planned on repainting as Blackducks and using 2 on the bank when hunting low tide. They are big , 8"x8" cork bodies. 3 standing snuggleheads and 2 standing sleepers. I cut 3" off the bottom of one of the sleepers, added a bottom board and keel. Will fit well some of my 5" McCormick pattern snuggled heads.
