Just got the official word from Maryland DNR

CANVASBACKS ARE BACK!!



E-MAIL FROM DNR TODAY!!

" Just got back from AFC meeting in Canada on Saturday. Cans 1 per day and scaup 2 per day for entire 60-day season. Will run duck season to the end of the framework, this year it will close later on Jan. 30. Will send you the proposed dates on Wednesday after I get the blessing of the Wildlife Advisory Commission. News release to follow. Only other change is that brant season will be 50 days with 2 birds, more restrictive than in 2008 due to poor productivity."

The season will run till 1/30/2010.Please contact us ASAP to set up your hunt!!

Great to hear that, I liked the idea of Drakes only, too bad that wasn't ammended. I think you mentioned that idea in an earlier post.

This year I'll be shooting drakes only on BB and Cans, I'd like to have my son see a bonus season someday (those where the days).

Thats good news!! I still have a can on my list of birds that I still need for the wall. Guess I might have to book a trip ................
