I don't have any decoys on my bench but I have started to build a Kara Hummer.Ribs are attached to the gunnels now with no breakage so that might be a good sign.No pic's yet

Sent this black on its way saturday morning, it was purchased as a gift, and received word tonight from its new owner that it is "perfect". I disagree, but that sure made my night!!

Kevin,
I had to laugh when I first saw the hooded pattern I thought you had taken a diversion and created a decoy devoid of any carved primaries. Good to see you stuck with what seems to be a developing style.

Kevin -
I really didn't like your head pattern on paper but you have proved me wrong. The head is my favorite part of that bird.

Yea Brandon, I wanted the primaries to lay nice and flat so I decided not to cut them in with the bandsaw. But one of these days I may just carve a smooth bird.

Thanks Hank. I did'nt want a flashy looking head with the high raised crest so I chose the half raised crest instead. I may also cut out one with a lowered crest. So far I don't love this bird but hopefully it will come alive in paint.......................Kevin

Nice hoodie Kevin. I am really starting to like these birds. Saw a lot of them during the last season and I've never really admired their beauty until now

I admire them too, once I thought to cook one I admired it so much. (Man do they pluck easy). Result...Thought I should throw away the grill. Here's an analogy...Forgot to empty the minnow bucket in August. Discovered it 3 days later. About the same smell.

Nice carving though. They are a neat bird to observe.

They tend to have high mercury levels due to all of the fish that they eat. They are fun to watch though as mentioned.

I will toss this guy out into my spread on the small water. The black and white tends to stand out and seems to bring the birds in close for a gander........................Kevin
