May Workbench

I really like the dead mounts Bob.

I painted this sunflower this month. I gave it to my dad as an early Father's Day gift. He had just had all of his sunflowers eaten by the deer (told him they would and he should put a fence around em, but did he listen??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO). So, I gave him a sunflower that the deer shouldn't eat.

Love the grebe!
We saw tons of them around Mobile Bay in winter.
Once had a less experienced buddy walk up to me at dock and ask “what kinda crazy looking duck is this?” It was a pied billed grebe. He was very embarrassed. He’s Lucky the warden wasn’t around.

Carl,

Thank You very much. Their was one Pied -billed Grebe (then a pair) on my favorite LM Bass and Bluegill pond this Spring for over a month. I would watch and observe that bird and it never ceased to amaze me. What animated and beautiful birds they are. I've always enjoyed them so it was time I carve one for the rig.

Best regards
Vince

Dani,

Beautiful work. Your dad will smile each time he looks at it. Personal gifts from daughters to dads make both hearts Glad.

Best regards

Practicing slinging paint on some scrap cut offs / new pattern side profiles. Finally feel like I’m getting the hang of the carving tools and getting a bird close to where I want shape wise

Need to spend more time with my greasy kid stuff (shout out to @george w )

Got some heads cut out, but I’m at a stopping point with my hand tools, still depending on my power carver a little at this time .. so trying to make best use of stuff I have to practice .

Head next to a body I’m working on

Ben,

Your miniatures are exceptional in everyway. Your own style, and just enough to capture the essence of the bird. What a very special gift for your wife. Two Thumbs Way UP!

Piping Plover's nest at Presque Isle in Erie, PA not far from where we live. I have observed them more than once there when I lived in PA.

Best regards
Vince

Does this count?????? Technically on the work bench… keep forgetting to take decoys outside and get good pics. Maybe this weekend I will.

The new shafts are all spined and balanced within 2 grams of each other, cut to my specs exactly, epoxied on custom purple/black ferrules. New grips tonight and then swingweight balanced up to D3.5 to fit my exact specs for my swing. Should help a ton with dispersion. Excited to hit these new shafts, they performed beyond well at my fitting a couple weeks ago.

No, they dont count. Unless you're sharpening them for use as drive-by mojo mallard decapitation devices.

I've wanted a fitted set but can't justify spending the money. Hardly play anymore since reproducing became a thing in my life

I unfortunately have found myself back to the game. Lord help my soul, and play pretty often now. Its cheaper than fishing, as my closest lake is 3 hours away, but now that diesel prices are going back down, might break out the bass boat again.

Paying for the fitting is pricey, but you come out with all your specs. To have someone build your clubs absolutely SUCKS and is so stupid expensive. I was quoted 1600 just to have my current irons fitted to me (so 7 new shafts and thats it). Um... NO! So I bought the shafts, built my own spine finding tool, cut to my height based on wrist to floor measurements and blew apart these irons and put all back together myself. A $1600 job cost me $350 with shafts (I found them "used" but they had never been cut and stickers not even on shafts but there were two 9i shafts instead of a PW shaft that I had to cut an extra half inch off one and take 2" off the rest). The grips cost me $60, epoxy and grip tape I already had on hand. Swingweight scale cost $70 and lead tape is CHEAP! Just have to be able to do a little math, be somewhat comfortable with a pipe cutter and not afraid of epoxy and sticky tape and you can build any set you want. Seriously, VERY easy to do. Dont ever pay anyone to do it for you or pay any kind of outrageous price. If you really want a built set, Ill walk you through everything, just DM me. Honestly, if you send me your specs, your irons/wedges, and pay shipping, ill happily build em for you for nothing.
