Mid Hudson NY waterfowlers?

Hi there Chris R here... just wondering if there are any of the forums members that could enlighten me on hunting the estuary marshs of the mid hudson valley area from letz say croton to tivoli bay??? Anyone hunting the Hudson??? Woeking at west point and I see lots of flights moving down river.
 
I had a great hunt on the Hudson around Saugertise (sp) a couple years ago.
There were tons of blacks and cans there in late November that year.

Come on, someone of you 71 viewers must have something to contribute to this inquery. No one but John from Erie Pa., has anything to offer. Any info on the bays of Tivoli. I'm not asking for your honey holes just some general info... any help here appreciated...
 
Be patient, out of those 71 viewers, probably 99.9% dont live anywhere near the Hudson River.
And its the weekend, most guys around that area are probably busy getting ready or actually hunting.

I'm out of the Albany area and Stockport Flats is as far south on the River I've hunted. Have no working knowledge of Tivoli. Love to hear how to access it as well...
 
I haven't hunted it yet, but hopefully next year after I do some summer scouting. I know there is a launch off one of the side roads, look it up on the NYS DEC site. I believe they have a map for it.

Trivoli is one of the WMA, on my list but so many yo try out.

I hope to make it up to Green County for some goose hunts, but family matters are holding be down on Long Island. Good luck with the quest.

I haven't hunted Tivoli since I moved away from area ~15 years ago so some of the following info might be out of date... There are 2 Tivoli bays which are very different in character. North Bay has a many sinuous channels and marshland. South Bay is mostly a flat. Access on land side is a hand launch on North Bay which dries up at low tide. Could also drive out to Cruger Island and hand launch on South Bay but I think that road has since been closed - probably a good thing. Accessible from river thru openings in railroad dike. At times the surge thru these openings can be strong and should be run with some caution especially if in a canoe/very small boat. Also, watch for pilings under the bridges (or am I remembering another place?). Be mindful that the timing of the tide inside bays will differ from that on river. When on the river beware a strong wind and opposing tidal current.
 
Thanks thus far to those fellows that have shared there knowledge and insights as to Tivioli Bay. If anyone has more to add good intell is always appreciated.

Any thoughts on hunt-able marshes south of Tivioli to lets say Nyack would also be appreciated.

For those not in the know. The Hudson River is 315 miles long running from Tears in the Clouds Lake in the Adirondaks to NY Harbor. It is North America's Largest Fjord. Yes it is a Fjord. At Constitution Island adjacent to West Point , the Hudson, is 175 deep; the deepest point in the river. The towering cliffs of the Palisades, the Hudson Highlnds, and the rivers depth put it in to the class of Fjord. Ironically, biologists refer to the Hudson River Estuary system as all the river up to Troy NY. Thats a lot of shoreline to explore.

There are a huge number of tidal marshes protected in Park or Preserve status. Thus, the reason I've been trying to sus out the area's that may be accessible to the general public by word of mouth.
