Mute Swans

You won't get a Federal ticket at $500/bird for a mute swan, but you will for a Tundra swan.

Yes your right about the feds but the state of New Jermany will make you wish the feds had you . LOL

had me looking through my photos. I've probably posted all of these at least once here but I thought some of you may get a kick out of them. That big cob was so immense. He was over 32 lbs. I really wish I could've mounted him and I even called to try and get an exemption from the rules of "destroyed within 24 hours" and they wouldn't let me. I would've said the hell with it and had it done but no taxidermist would do it for me. I would've donated it to a museum or hunt club or something.

Funny thing is.. a mated pair of those things is worth a small fortune to collectors, and private pond owners. How'd you think they became so widespread.
Thought about "collecting" and selling them once upon a time, but figured I'd end up in jail somewhere, lol

Ahhh? How much Jack Daniels courage you think it would take to attempt to"collect" a pair of them? I'm figuring a 1/5 bare minimum and that might be subject to change. I'd be more worried about getting a$$ kicked by the pair. haha

LOL, Naah, they're easy to catch, did it all the time when a young teen.
My Grandma had a house on a lake here, we would bait them ashore with bread, I would wait behind a tree till they were far enough from the water and then rush them. You want to grab that neck just under the head first thing, then wrap your other arm around the body and wings, Even a caveman could do it. .lol.....The things you do when your bored.
We just let them go again.

I've assisted cops and game wardens many times getting them off roads and medians when they crash landed.

I would of thought they would be as pissy as domestic farm geese I've incountered. Intersesting the things you'll do as a child and not think twice.

What does your state do for management, if anything?

Thanks,
Brian ------------------ In Washington the Dept of Wildlife will respond to various locations and shoot them. They also poke around in the spring and destroy the nests. This is a pretty quite program. Many peoeple do not know about it.
