Still looks sharp! I bet you still get a lot of comments at the boat ramp and gas pump.
Tell me about the mud motor Broadbill combo. What do you do with it? Stats on performance? The motor is a backwater 13 hp v-twin.I ordered it with a 55" shaft. It weights around 140 lbs.I glassed in shims when i built it because of the rocker in the hull design.I also left off the keels on the bottom so it is smooth so they wouldnt drag in the mud.I pretty much just use it in the shallow marshes we have here it will run thru several inches of water and a couple river spots. At wot it will put the boat on plane at 15 mph w a hunting load and a chessy.
Mud motors dont like rocker.I glassed in shims to give me some lift.It runs on plane at 15 mph with a hunting load and dog.I left the keels off the bottom so a could run shallow .A mud motor isnt optimal for a devlin boat .The ducks are in the shallows and i cant get to them w an ouboard.Yes, I too am curious about mud motors on Devlin boats. Does anyone have a recommendation on which motor well configuration would work best for an outboard and a mud motor? I like the idea of a recessed mount so the boat is more level plus easier to cancel. I am thinking Devlin Bluebill. Richard
Its a devlin broadbill. There is just something special about using your home made boat.Hi Jeff - is that a home built Armstrong Broadbill? I have used one I picked up last year. I thought It just needed a few cosmetic fixes, but it turned out to need a major reconstruction. I've only had one little run in the boat - maybe 5 minutes last fall and it's been the shop ever since. Last coat of paint on it today and I'm hoping to test run it next week. From your comments "it's a pure joy to hunt .." it seems like you really like it. I hoping the same.
