My new favorite decoy....

I love my new decoy but the picture doesn't do it justice. Earlier this spring I cut a box of palm fronds and sent them all to a fellow Duckboater gentleman in Maryland. In return he made this decoy for me and I got it yesterday. I think it's beautiful and made him a promise that I'd gun over it this fall then send him pictures of my success. I can't wait. being a well known member on the site not to meny member are familiar with my work. I have been in wildfowl mag. shooting sportsman pbs,
NEA three times for the word foundation I live in kennebunk, maine but not a well known carver. I did not have many. references for the
pintail showed here this will give carvers some good reference there is a lot of up and downs carving soft palm fronds.I has been in two
wildfowl cat. wing stand worth mathusons cat. I am working on a old squaw drake.

Hey Bill,
Last remember seeing you in Easton way back in 2014 when we had NEA / Ward Foundation grants as regional instructors for the carvers' seminars they used to sponsor. Jode Hillman was with us, along with Heck Rice, Del Herbert, Patrick Eubanks, Vic Kirkman, and others who don't come to mind right now. Here's a picture of the group panel with the instructors held during part of the weekend. We all looked (and felt) a bit younger back then! ;)

I had the students in my Ohio workshop do frond blackducks and we all transported them with us to be entered into the "Chesapeake Challenge" Show that ran in conjunction with the seminar weekend. Here's a picture of one of my student's birds that did well. Her name was Patricia Otto and she's still doing some carving along with some others who did the classes here in Ohio.

Gorgeous decoy, Perry! Didn't you used to hunt southern Maine out of a sailing sneakbox? I know there was somebody in the Kennebunk area who did. Not to make this site commercial, but if anyone wanted to buy one of your decoys, where might we find them?

Hey Bob,
my joy is teaching decoy carving to others,I enjoy your face book for references on different duck decoys ,love your work.
I haven't been duck hunting in many years as not having a lot of energy, because of aging.well be 85 tis fall.I do very few carving now
and only for customers that don't mind waiting.
