Need rain!!

A few pics of my moist soil unit from this morning(well not moist at this time-lol). Best stand of smartweed and barnyard grass I've ever had. However definitely looking like first time in my 17 yrs of ownership that I will not have water unless we get some serious amounts of rain soon. Definitely won't need to get in any rush to get my layout boats ready for season.

Same situation here. We've hardly had any rain for months and the forecast is more of the same. Thomas and crew have been running 3" pumps around the clock trying to get enough water in one of our timber holes to attract what few ducks we have. When it is this dry this early ducks move through, never stopping, and we lose birds we'd otherwise have. It impacts the entire season, especially for wood ducks, even if we get rain later.

You can take ours! Up in yankeedom it's been something like 18 out of the last 22 weekends have been rain. Can't even walk around on the lawn without making a mess

Same down here, driest summer and fall I have seen since the 2006-08 drought.

I've been 8 times out to fish on the Upper Rogue river this fall and have zero fish to show for it.

I am a good fisherman too, If there were fish in there I'd be setting the hook, but the water is low and very clear and really cold.
Lets do a rain dance I guess..

The aerial video I saw from LDWF is depressing along with the flyover survey. I'm in Venice all week, we are finding a few birds but it's pitiful. Saltwater intrusion is destroying our marsh.

Didn't I just see weather forecasts for torrential rain for the gulf coast states? Like 6-8" this week? Be careful what you wish for. Hope nobody gets flooding in their house.

Driving through Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama and Panhandle FL was pretty sobering. The lack of water in creeks, ponds, lakes, rivers and even a few canals was shocking. Lots of signs in AL saying burn bans in effect. Hopefully the idiots on the roads that toss cigarettes out their windows can make that connection in their brains.

Big weather coming tomorrow night. 45 knot winds and rain. Duck weather. LOL

My buddies in SWLA have a 3 1/2 foot rain deficit. 8 inches of rain will get soaked up in the parched cracked marsh I saw in pictures. It's horrible.

The Mississippi River is so low I can barely get to my deer stand. Not many potholes in our pool have huntable water. The open water blinds are being hunted but not much going on here yet. The biggest flight of ducks I've seen has been the 3 to 4 doz Mallards out stretching their wings around 1:30 this afternoon. The ducks I've seen at the landing besides Woodies have been Ringers. I've shot one goose so far. I did manage a nice buck on Saturday during bow season. Our gun season opens this coming Friday, so I'll be out even if I have to push pole in.

Really dry here as well.
Visited a DNR shooting range yesterday, then drove to a nearby public hunting marsh to walk a bit. Shocked by how low the water level in the marsh was.
Passed by the location of a handicap-access blind that's been there for years, and there was no water within 125 yards of it.
Ohio River has been just a foot above pool stage for most of the summer, and that doesn't bode well for being able to hunt up in the sloughs. Fortunately there's a way to go 'til the heart of the tri-state corner seasons, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
